The staff of the Department of Clinical and Personalized Medicine consists of teaching faculty from the University of Latvia, Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, who also serve as practicing physicians at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital. Their clinical specialties include internal medicine, cardiology, infectology, urology, and radiology. The department's academic staff deliver courses within the Medicine, Medical Doctoral, and Residency programs.

The department's research activities are closely related to clinical studies and include the following areas:
 

  • Diabetes Research: focus on type 1 and type 2 diabetes, complications, lifestyle factors, and biomarker identification. Includes innovative technologies (e.g., continuous glucose monitoring) and digital tools for lifestyle counseling and risk prediction.
  • Infectious Disease Research: antimicrobial resistance, vaccine development, and molecular epidemiology of carbapenem-resistant bacteria.
  • Innovative Catheter-Based Techniques: clinical trials influencing ESC guidelines.
  • Non-Invasive/Invasive Diagnostic Methods: multicenter trials using advanced imaging and molecular diagnostics.
