The Department of Surgery, Morphology and Invasive Medicine provides academic instruction in the Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Nursing programs, covering both core study courses, clinical practice, and elective modules. It also supervises doctoral studies.
Research within the department is carried out through Latvian and international projects, contract-based studies, as well as through student and doctoral research. Academic staff contribute to the organization of international congresses, the development of postgraduate education, and the creation of educational resources, while actively participating in professional associations and leading bodies of the Latvian Medical Association.

The Department of Surgery, Morphology and Invasive Medicine was established in 2025, bringing together specialists and academic staff from the fields of surgery, traumatology and orthopaedics, anaesthesiology, anatomy and histology, pathology, and dentistry — including lecturers, researchers, and residents.
