Organisation profile

The mission of the Institute of Materials Mechanics is internationally competitive high-quality scientific research in the mechanics of materials, structural mechanics and materials sciences, including polymer mechanics and related sciences, as well as the use of the competencies acquired in research in the training of students of all levels and in scientifically based technology transfer and innovation.

The Institute conducts complex research in the following areas of materials mechanics, structural mechanics and materials sciences:

  • Study of deformation processes, including long-term ones;
  • Research on the mechanical integrity of materials;
  • Applications of modern materials in mechanical engineering and construction;
  • Calculations of composite material structures;
  • Influence of external environmental factors on the mechanical properties of materials, including nanomaterials;
  • Physical methods in structural research in materials mechanics;
  • Methods for predicting long-term properties;
  • Non-destructive testing methods;
  • Research on composite and nanomaterial technologies.
