Research interests
Artūrs Brēķis is a leading researcher at the Institute of Physics of the University of Latvia. His work is mainly focused on technological applications of magnetohydrodynamics and thermoacoustics in the energy, military and space industries. He has participated in a significant international European project "SpaceTRIPS", as a result of which, for the first time in the world, a unique method for generating electricity from radioisotope fuel was developed and demonstrated in Latvia, for applications in extremely distant space missions. He has led experimental MHD research in projects related to nuclear energy and nuclear fusion. He has collaborated with NATO, the Arctic University of Norway, the University of Grenoble Alps, etc.
