Short biography
Leila Neimane is a leading researcher at the University of Latvia, Faculty of Law, Institute of Legal Science. She obtained her Ph.D. in Law (Dr. iur.) from the University of Latvia in 2019, specialising in environmental impact assessment regulation. Her research focuses on maritime spatial planning, environmental law, and sustainable development in the Baltic Sea region. She previously worked on a project addressing the regulatory framework and implementation challenges of maritime spatial planning, and is currently leading the project “Potential of traditional and recirculation inland aquaculture for inclusive and intelligent fisheries development in the Baltic States (AQUA4DEV-BS)”. She has international research experience at the University of Basel, the University of Pretoria, and the University of Bergen.
