Personal profile
Short biography
I am an Associate Professor of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia; I am also the Vice-Dean for Research and the Head of the Faculty’s Legal Science Institute. My academic and scientific work relates to civil law and its relationship with special civil law branches (mainly intellectual property law, insurance law, and consumer protection law). I have published my research findings nationally and internationally (as a (co)author of more than 100 scientific publications) and reported at various international and domestic scientific conferences in Latvia and abroad. I have also participated in the implementation of significant international and domestic scientific projects addressing topical civil law issues of European and national law.
Research interests
My research interests focus on the exploration of modern civil law and its developments in European and national law. I am particularly interested in special civil law branches being subject to special regulatory approaches and specific understanding, such as intellectual property law (with a special focus on its interrelation with food law and the protection of geographical-origin based products), insurance law (by considering risk regulation in general), consumer protection law (in general and various forms for protection of consumer rights), and the regulation of economic activity as such, especially from the perspective of commercial law.
