Abstract

We describe the spectroscopic properties associated with the occurrence of a 270 nm band giving rise to a blue luminescence at 432 nm and its dependence on the chemical composition in doped silica glasses. The luminescence lifetime is found at around 75 μs. The associated defect is related to Ge doping.
