A general diffusion model of magnetized suspensions and dissipative vortex structures in rotating magnetic fields

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In the present paper the authors formulated a diffusion model of a magnetic colloid, wherein provision was made for the nonequilibrium orientation processes and the stresses that are generated as a consequence of the surface interactions. In the second part of the paper, using this model as a basis, the authors examine the conditions for the appearance of concentrated nonuniform vortex structures of magnetic suspensions in rotating fields. On the basis of this model the dimensional rheological effects accompanying the flow of the magnetic colloids in thin slits can be described, as well as the nonequilibrium processes which occur in the formation of magnetic-colloid structures.
