Abstract

A new instrument for direct measurements of the individual energy spectra of heavy cosmic-ray nuclei in the energy range from 1011 to several 1014 eV shall be described. The instrument performance is discussed, using first results from a 28-hour balloon flight and from an accelerator calibration.
