Abstract

The luminescence of KF, KMgF3, KCaF3 and solid solutions KFRbF was studied under excitation with 6 keV electron pulses. Electronic transitions from the F- 2p valence band to the K+ 3p core band result in a specific "crossluminescence" in the 6-9 eV region with decay time < 2 ns. In the KFRbF solid solutions the transitions from the F- 2p valence band to the Rb+ 4p localized states or to the corresponding impurity band gives rise to luminescence bands at 5.4 and 6.1 eV as in pure RbF.
