Abstract
Effects of water absorption, elevated temperatures and fatigue on the mechanical properties of carbon-fiber-reinforced epoxy composites for flexible risers were discussed. The tension-tension behavior of the composites was also studied. It was found that the long-term exposure of unloaded specimens to pure water at 70 °C and specimens loaded in three-point bending to water at room temperature did not affect the flexural stiffness.
