Abstract

The influence of a nonuniform distribution in the electromagnetic force density on hydrodynamic flow characteristics in a round pipe have been thoroughly analyzed earlier by the authors. The present work addresses itself to the opposite question: how does the distribution in electromagnetic forces change for an arbitrary flow velocity structure? It also examines the interrelationship between the electromagnetic and hydrodynamic characteristics in a round MHD channel. The investigation is carried out for an axisymmetric flow, which is typical, e. g. , for the case of a cylindrical induction pump having no internal core.
