Abstract
The notion of entrepreneurial universities has often been analyzed in the context of developed liberal democracies. This chapter focuses on a less traditional context and takes stock on research concerning the development of entrepreneurial universities in the region of former Soviet Union. This region represents a diverse set of countries which after the fall of Soviet Union all embarked on a path of (re)constructing their higher education systems. The basis for the chapter is a literature review, examining the body of knowledge generated on entrepreneurial universities in 15 post-Soviet countries. The review finds a rather uneven body of knowledge with most diverse research on Estonia and Russia. The chapter proposes a research agenda for the study of entrepreneurial universities in the post-Soviet region recognizing particularities and challenges of each local context.
