Abstract

An experimental study of heat-, mass-, and charge transfer in chemical reactions on metal surface during transient heating with low-temperature argon plasma containing 4 percent oxygen is described. Kinetic constants for the Arrhenius equation were obtained for oxidation of titanium and zirconium. It was found that the chemical reactions affect the heating of metal, the convective heat transfer, and the transport of energy by intrinsic radiation.
