title = "Human-Centered Interface Design and 'Must-Attractiveness' in the U.S. Art and Design School Websites",
abstract = "The online presence of art and design schools needs to be attractive, surprising and different to meet the expectations of potential students in an era of clarity of visual communication and rational choices about how the visual language of educational institutions should be accessible to all users. The common principles in human-centered interface design practices and the necessary appeal or must-attractiveness from the perspective of visual communication design and visual accessibility is explored. Three U.S. art and design schools were selected whose home page designs exhibit a contrast or harmony of design must-attractiveness and visual accessibility in varying proportions. A comparison of the design solutions reveals the strategies how to communicate in a way that is both attractive and visually accessible.",
