Abstract

In this article, experimental results are discussed concerning the action of a transverse magnetic field on the ejection process in an electrically conducting liquid. The experiments were carried out for two cases: in the first, the power supplied to the pump to create the ejecting flow was kept constant, while the magnetic field was varied. In the second case, the flow rate of the ejecting flow was also kept constant. It is shown that in the first case, in spite of the increasing ejection coefficient with increasing magnetic field, the total flow rate in the ejector diminishes. In the second case, the ejection coefficient and the total flow rate increase but at the same time the power supplied to the ejecting flow also increases significantly. The flow pattern in a magnetic field changes greatly due to the development ofM-shapes.
