Abstract

The invention relates to microbiology and biotechnology industry. Strain B17 isolated from Kombucha tea cell culture, which has been identified as Komagataeibacter rhaeticus and deposited in Microbial Strain Collection of Latvia under the number P 1463, is proposed as promising producer of bacterial cellulose (BC). The capacity of cellulose synthesis by strain P 1463 is considerably higher compared to the capacity of another strain Komagataeibacter hansenii B22, and, even more, it is much higher than synthesis capacity of the reference strains K. xylinus LMG 1522 and K. hansenii LMG 1527.
