Abstract
In order to ensure more efficient action, the geometry of the flow-through channel in MHD throttles must facilitate, to the maximum possible degree, the buildup of intense circulation flow. Interaction of rotating streams in the cavities and the flow-through stream of metal causes the latter to slow down and its discharge rate at the exit from the flow-through channel of the throttle to decrease. For a qualitative evaluation of this effect and for an analysis of its possible practical applications, a study is made here of the hydrodynamic characteristics of mutually crossing streams and a method is proposed of designing MHD throttles with crossing internal streams.
