Abstract

The findings on the domain structures and local piezoelectric hysteresis loops of the single crystals of PZN-4.5%PT are presented. This composition far from the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) is intentionally chosen in order to simplify the analysis of the observed domain patterns. It is found that the essential features of the macroscopic electromechanical behavior are th same as in the composition close to the MPB.
