Abstract
The objective of this paper is to explore the colour schemes to reduce stressors in the hygiene area of the space station. We conducted a two-stage exploratory Delphi-study with 30 international experts. It was found that the overall environment, stool collection device, garbage collection device and negative pressure package device of the hygiene area most affected the astronaut's experience. Remarkably, experts have the highest visual requirements for the cleanliness of the overall environment and stool and urine collection devices of the hygiene area, and they tend to have low saturation and low blackness colours, while garbage collection devices and negative pressure packaging devices require eye-catching and discernibility visual requirements, besides, the experts tend to choose high saturation and high brightness colours.
