Abstract

We have found that the Ca4NdO(BO3)3 single crystals doped by Yb3+ (5 at.%) present promising materials for optical second harmonic generation and for the photoinduced effects. In particularly it is found that illumination by single pulsed Nd-YAG lasers with power about 1 GW/cm2 causes substantial changes of the corresponding optical constants. The value of the efficient second order susceptibility is about 1.8 pm/V at wavelength 1064 nm.
