Abstract

The optical absorption band of Tl2+ hole centres has been investigated by measuring the magnetic circular dichroism of the absorption bands (MCDA) as well as MCDA-detected electron paramagnetic resonance (MCDA-EPR). Several new absorption bands were found using the excitation spectra of the MCDA-EPR lines of Tl2+. In the iodides there is a total of 7 MCDA bands, more than predicted by the molecular orbital picture discussed so far in the literature.
