Abstract
The invention relates to computer-based methods and systems for automated detection of symptoms of cognitive impairment in a person for diagnostic purposes, in particular for automated detection of depression. The proposed method for automated detection of depression includes: (i) obtaining a set of images captured by a video camera of a speaking subject and a set of images captured by a listening subject; (ii) obtaining a set of voice sounds of a subject by a microphone; (iii) obtaining a set of images captured by a subject and a set of voice sounds of a subject by a processor connected to a video camera and a microphone, distinguishing the sets of images captured by the subject obtained when the subject speaks and when the subject listens by the processor; (iv) generating image data by the processor, which includes the length of the subject's saccades, the number of saccades per second and the duration of each gaze fixation, based on the obtained sets of perception images; moreover, image data is generated separately for a speaking subject and a listening subject; (v) generating voice sound data by the processor, including the pitch of the voice, the volume of the voice, and the number of words uttered by the subject in 10 seconds, based on the obtained voice sounds; (vi) transmitting to the processor memory, in which data on the threshold value of the saccade length, the number of saccades per second, the duration of each gaze fixation, the pitch of the voice, the volume of the voice, and the number of words uttered in 10 seconds are stored; (vii) comparing the image data and the voice sound data obtained by the processor with the data on the threshold value of the image and voice sound stored in the memory; in addition, the compared image data includes the length of the subject's saccades, the number of saccades per second, and the duration of each gaze fixation; and comparing the voice sound data, including the pitch of the voice, the volume of the voice, and the number of words uttered by the subject in 10 seconds; (viii) by the processor determining whether the acquired image and voice sound data value exceeds the image and voice sound threshold value stored in the memory, if so, by the processor using a notification means, sending a notification about the detected depression.
