Abstract
The aim of this study is to produce biocompatible magnetic nanoparticles (magnetite and maghemite) for their further medical and biomedical application. We used dextran with different molecular weights (MW) and carboxymethyldextran sodium salt (CM Dextran) to coat iron oxide nanoparticles. Two ways were used to produce coated nanoparticles: in situ coating and post-synthesis particle modification with polysaccharides. The nanoparticles are characterized and the conditions for the synthesis of dextran coated magnetic nanoparticles investigated by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and their magnetization curves are determined by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM).
