Abstract

The first review of the Tomoderinae Bonadona, 1961 (Anthicidae Latreille, 1819) from the Philippine Islands is presented. Two genera, Macrotomoderus Pic, 1901 and Tomoderus LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849, are confirmed for the archipelago. Descriptions of the following 13 new species are provided: Macrotomoderus damaskai, M. davawenyo, M. hamiguitan, M. kirscheyi, M. maranao, M. subanen, M. unicus, Tomoderus agta, T. medinai, T. mindanaor, T. minor, T. penicillus, T. shavrini spp. nov. A new synonymy is proposed for Tomoderus longithorax Krekich-Strassoldo, 1929 = T. elegantithorax Telnov, 2001 (both from Luzon). Additional records and type material images are provided for the poorly known species. An annotated checklist of the Philippine Tomoderinae is provided. Biogeographical peculiarities are briefly discussed. The known Philippine fauna of Tomoderinae is comprised of 22 species: eight Macrotomoderus and 14 Tomoderus.
