Abstract
The change of the scattering coefficient in the mid-infrared (IR), as compared to the visible region, is estimated from the theory of electromagnetic wave scattering in inhomogeneous dielectric media. It has been found that the coefficient of light scattering by domains and grains at a wavelength X = 5 pni is dccrcascd by a factor of about 102 as compared to its value at h = 0.5 prn. Experimental studies have been performed on clectrooptic (EO) properties of ferroelectric ceramics PLZT 10/65/35, the sample thickness being up to 15 mm. Dispersion of the EO effect in the IR region has been studied in PLZT 8/65/35 and PSN ceramics at temperatures beyond T,-the temperature of disappearance of the macroscopically polarized state.
