Abstract
The results of numerical calculations and simple criteria estimates of the effect of a d. c. magnetic field upon thermogravitational and thermogravitational and thermocapillary convection at very small gravity force values (acceleration 10-3-10-4 m per s2 have been compared. The d. c. magnetic field has been shown to reduce essentially the intensity of residual convective flows. To estimate the field effect quantitatively, the proposed criteria evaluations might be used.
