Abstract
An experimental study provides the tests of the pelletization regimes for the biomass of complex composition providing pelletization of biomass mixtures, which are composed of wheat straw, rape stalk, and reed canary grass with addition of softwood or hardwood barks. The estimation of stoichiometric ratio of air-to-fuels is carried out to achieve more complete biomass combustion enhancing the heat energy output. Combustion characteristics are highly influenced by the origin and composition of biomass, as well as by bulk density and heating values of pellets determining variations of the rate of biomass gasification, ignition, and combustion of volatiles, as well transition to the char combustion stage. The correlations between the combustion characteristics and main characteristics of pelletized biomass samples are determined, analyzed, and elucidated.
