The Possibility of Social Rhythm in the "Age of Will": A New Socio-Political Meditation

Research output: Contribution to journal › Article › peer-review

Abstract

This article’s aim is to attempt an ontological interpretation of rhythm, to show how social and/or political rhythm restructures lived temporality. The modern "Age of Will", as previously researched by the author and her team, signals a shift from rhythm as continuity toward rhythm as a directed force: warfare, technological innovation, and the weaponization of light and sound, being two central elements of this age, illustrate how rhythm becomes subject to strategic manipulation. In this context, social rhythm is no longer simply the coordination of recurring patterns but a contested field of power over time itself.
