Kopsavilkums

Magnetic nanoparticles are considered the next generation of antimicrobial agents, having the benefits of magnetic guidance, making them potentially useful for therapeutic and diagnostic applications. Hybridization of inorganic-organic functionalities has emerged as an efficient way to achieve advanced therapeutic goals. We present a brief overview of the popular strategies and the recurrent functional themes in designing antimicrobial magnetic nanosystems. The effect of functionalization and combining nanosystems engineering with drug discovery workflow to increase the inhibitory potential of magnetic nanocomposites against infectious pathogens is discussed. The integration of inorganic-organic functionalities based on a magnetic core has high capacity to avoid the microbial defense mechanisms and eliminate resistant strains.
