Kopsavilkums
The linguist Antons Breidaks, one of the most prominent Latvian Baltists of the 20th century, would have turned 90 years old on January 25, 2022. The range of his scientific interests was broad, and included: 1) the lexicon of the Latgalic subdialects of the High Latvian dialect from etymological, diachronic, and synchronic perspectives 2) phonetics and phonology of the Latgalian subdialect 3) historical contacts and parallels between Latgalic subdialects and Baltic, Slavic, Baltic-Finnic languages 4) the parallels between Latvian and Balkan languages 5) the origin of Baltic languages 6) the Latvian folk song language and metrics in historical perspective 7) the issues of etymology and spelling of place-names of Latgale 8) the issues of Latgalian written language standardization and status.
