Arhitektūras mantojuma izpēte Latvijā 20. gadsimta 50.–80. gados: ieskats Latvijas Nacionālās bibliotēkas Reto grāmatu un rokrakstu krājuma arhivālijās

Along with other unique archives related to the cultural history of the Eastern Baltic region and modern Latvia, the National Library of Latvia (NLL) collection holds materials on the study of Latvia’s architectural heritage in the second half of the 20th century. They are still only partially completed and incorporated into the academic research field related to the history of art and architecture. The paper examines the document sets compiled by historians Roberts Malvess and Rudolfs Širants – their personal manuscript collections from the NLL Rare Book and Manuscript Reading Room collection – which reflect the research conducted by them on various issues of the history of Latvian architecture in the period from the late 1950s to the early 1980s. These document sets contain unique testimonies about the methods for researching historical buildings and the political context of such studies in Latvia during the Soviet occupation period, consequently they remain significant to research into the cultural policy and history of ideas of the said time period.
