Kopsavilkums
Results are presented from a theoretical study of a flat MHD valve in which the electromagnetic interaction with the liquid metal is produced by a pair of rotors equipped with strong permanent magnets. The distributions of the electromagnetic fields in the valve channel are determined and their force interactions with the liquid metal are examined in a noninductive approximation. A perturbation analysis of the free surface of the liquid sealed by the valve is carried out and the range of parameters for which a specified column of liquid metal will be contained is determined.
