Flying on the Moon with Egyptian Wings A visionary design concept for Spacecraft Habitability

How could you move effectively in microgravity if you are not able to grab anything? To reply to this question, we decided to study the design of a flying system initially inspired by the artworks of ancient Egypt. We carefully observed Ancient Egyptian artworks such as paintings and sculptures depicting winged humans and mythical creatures, in which “flapping wings” appear to be depicted as prostheses fastened to the arms of mythical figures like Goddess Isis. On the base of the human dream to fly like a bird, we decided to imagine flapping wings in order to create a new design concept that allows humans to move on Wide body spacecrafts as well as Moon and Mars settlements.
