LIVING ON THE MOON: HUMAN FACTORS & PSYCHOLOGY STUDY IN EMMIHS MOONBASE CAMPAIGNS

Space scientists imagine the unimaginable, solve the unsolvable, transform failures into victories and limitations into virtues, and see setbacks as solvable puzzles rather than insurmountable obstacles. They work under hostile conditions, and we must consider the factor of isolation and confinement in extreme environments. (Varol., 2022) Many humans experience what we call "winter syndrome". They isolate themselves in their rooms and begin social isolation. The isolation would be unthinkable on a spaceship, as they are in constant contact, but other symptoms of confinement can appear. One way to cope with being on the ship for an extended period will be to promote increased awareness among the crew of their feelings, to assess how they feel and how they deal with it. We must understand spaceflight's psychological and social dimensions and where they will live during space missions. Our DNA brain has not had this kind of experience, so adapting to this new environment and lifestyle is difficult. There is a tremendous sense of isolation, as there is no "fast help" and no real-time coordination with the mission control center. The complex pre-mission preparation to understand how to create a flexible, resilient and capable team helps adapt and cooperate between the astronauts, which are essential aspects for their physical and psychological "survival" and, ultimately, for the mission's success.
