Kopsavilkums
Kalnamuiža is one of the Estonian (also referred to as the Leivi) populated islands in north-eastern Vidzeme. The language spoken by the Leivi at Kalnamuiža and surrounding municipalities is the language of southern Estonians; Latvians there speak deep Latgalian subdialects of the High Latvian Dialect. The aim of the article is to collect and study Leivi forenames from Kalnamuiža of 1826, thus establishing whether personal names have roots in southern Estonian language. The principal source of the study is the Soul Revision Materials (Dvēseļu revīzijas materiāli in Latvian) of 1826 from Kalnamuiža in Vidzeme (LVVA Fond No. 199, Description 1, Case 175); the list includes information about 2,636 persons (1,384 men and 1,252 women). According to data specified by the parish pastor O. von Prühl, in 1826 25 farmsteads in Kalnamuiža were populated by the Leivi. They are Ermick, Zempe, Jahkusch, Nahſup, Kelles, Luhkusch, Spriewul, Drelle, Pukſche, Woldup, Lunke, Puhſup et Perkon, Leelpald, Gerlain, Urraneſch, Gottlieb, Lauke, Melderpulk, Behrſemneek, Paldinta, Ohkan, Mallatz, Klawing, Zihrul, and Puttrin.
