Kopsavilkums
The properties of the self-trapped excitons are compared in the crystals with α-quartz structure belonging to a family of tetrahedral structured materials. Two types of STEs were observed in crystals with α-quarlz structure. The STE in cristobalite, silica and in Li2GeO3 crystals are examples of differences in STE properties with that of α-quartz. It is hypothezied that the structure of STE in these crystals is determined by hole part localized on two oxygen - non-bridging and a bridging. The electron component is diffuse.
