Kopsavilkums
Paper presents analysis of smart metering effects on electricity consumption of end-users and assessment of corresponding CO2 emission reduction. These effects were tested by application of results from a smart metering pilot case curried out in Latvia. The smart metering pilot project was aimed at assessment of electricity consumption reduction potential due to behavioral changes as result of feed-back information provided by smart metering. The pilot project was set up at the beginning of 2013 comprising 500 households with smart meters and a control group with 500 standard power meters to check and compare electricity consumption changes. Analysis of results demonstrates annual electricity savings in the range of 10.8% - 12.7%. The effects are based on behavioral changes resulted into energy efficiency improvements by the use of smart metering program in household sector.
